We're just cruising along at 60% each week and for the season. Checking the standings from last year, 63.33% cashed last year and this year the guarantee is higher so I'm close to where I need to be, but need to start gaining some gains midseason here. This was a tough week for me...there weren't many of my "angle plays" as I call them besides the Patriots game and I was sweating this one going in so I'll definitely take 3-2. Let's break down my picks and results from Week 4:
Bengals +3.5
Vikings +2.5
Commanders +3
Panthers -1.5
Patriots +9.5
Bengals +3.5
I liked the spot for the Bengals here on Thursday Night Football and hated the spot for the Dolphins. They had just come off a brutal divisional battle with Buffalo in 80-90 degree weather, Tua was banged up and probably still concussed and it was a short week. Despite Zac Taylor's ridiculous coaching and stubbornness for running Mixon a million times to the tune of 2.5 yards per carry, the Bengals were able to put the Fins away and cover this one.
Vikings +2.5
I mean, the Vikings are awful to bet on and watch. Early game in London, neutral field, I was on the right side of 3 points thanks to Circa locking in the lines on Thursday and everyone was basically out for the Saints: Winston, Kamara, Michael Thomas. This should have been a slam dunk, but of course the Vikes had to make it interesting and barely freaking cover the 2.5 after the double doink field goal miss by Will Lutz. I thought the Vikings would be a lot better this year, but their past two games didn't give me much confidence. Is Mike Zimmer really in disguise and coaching this team? Because that's what it seems like. It went down as a win, but man it'll take one hell of a spot for me to go back to the Vikings again.
Commanders +3
This was legit just a play a complete fade play. The public was all over the Cowboys -3 and when Circa released everyone's picks, the Boys were also one of the favorite plays of the week. It could have been a nice way to gain a game on a thousand people in the standings, but nope Carson Wentz is just that bad. And here's the horrific thought...I may go back to them in Week 5. I know, I'm sick. God help me.
Panthers -1.5
Cardinals traveled across the country for this one and Kyle Murray hasn't looked good since like Week 5 last year. I thought the Panthers defense would keep him at bay, which they did for the most part but good Lord is that Carolina offense a mess. Baker Mayfield stinks. THROW IT TO D.J. MOORE DUDE! This play looked good for a half and by the 4th quarter, it looked like the worst pick of the week.
Patriots +9.5
I've talked about this earlier this season. Games where the "star" or basically the starting QB is out, I will more than likely take that team in their next game out. The market typically will overcompensate for the backup being in and it was the same way with this game. Even Brian Hoyer went down early and the Pats had the rookie Zappe in there...and it didn't matter! Shit, they almost won the game. The Pats winning would have blown up a ton of survivor pools out there. But if you had the points like I did, you'll take the OT loss and move up with the W.
Week 4: 3-2
Season: 12-8 (60%)
